Screw video conferencing. Toss out those 3-D glasses. We just got one step closer to making portable holographic videos a reality (something we’ve all been waiting for ever since the first Star Wars flick came out back in 1977). This new demo from Japan-based creative team Aircord labo uses nothing more than a glass prism (with “special film”), a projector, and an iPad to create a 3-D display that runs on OpenFrameworks and MaxMSP (you can download the program files here). Think that’s pretty badass? So do we. But wait, there’s more! With an installed application, the program can also respond to sound, making the 3-D holovid display interactive.

French retoucher Christophe Huet is a true photoshop Master! His work is fascinating. He is the one who creates the famous advertising for Playstation, but also some for Nike, Motorola, Surfrider Foundation….Best of all is that he has few working progress slideshows where you can see the process of each image, Like the one under… Its really interesting and inspiring.

His philosophy :

Christophe Huet has a particular philosophy and I think it makes his strength. Listening, availability, patience are the base of his job. He also feels concerned about the images’ impact he retouches. Sometimes, he refuses projects for personal reasons like ads for cigarettes, for junk industrial food, or others that degrade any kind of people. He thinks we have to be responsible for our act, that’s the attitude he tries to have for himself even if it’s not always easy to do. He does not want to say ‘yes’ to everything in the name of money. The artistic part of his job can’t make him forget his responsability. Likewise, he always tries to keep time to offert his job for association that struggle against cancer, smoking, aids, all bad treatment, ecology …His website is particularly well designed. It is very sober. You can also find a making off of his work. It is like little films that show the evolution of his work.

“Politehnica” University of Timisoara, Timisoara

Drupalcamp Timisoara/Romania was the first major local Drupal event in Romania. The event was organized by Drupal Romania Association and took place during 5th and 6th of June, 2010. This event was supported by “Politehnica” University of Timisoara, League of Students from the Faculty of Automatics and Computers and Software Business Incubator.

Kristof Van Tomme
Drupalcamp Timisoara/Romania hosted about two hundreds of users and developers from Central and East European states, as well as speakers from the global Drupal Community. The event was highly interactive, it encouraged communication among the participants both in the workshops and dicussions. There were 16 presentations and most of them were done by important people from drupal community like Gábor Hojtsy and Kristof Van Tomme. We had an opportunity to hear Gábor Hojtsy who gave us a closer look to Drupal 7 features which is expected to be released in August this year.

Kristof Van Tomme held a workshop which he called Drupal games, where he demostrated in practice how difficult or easy collaboration between co-workers could be. He stressed out the importance of team work and communicaton and showed us a new view of how to multiply the efficiency of our projects.

Drupalcamp Timisoara was very useful because we met some old and make new friends from the Drupal community. Talking to one of the organizers and executive director of Timişoara Software Business Incubator Radu Ticiu, Drupal community in Serbia got support for gathering and organizing similar events at home, so next year you can expect a similar event in Serbia.
